warns people that "decriminalization
is not legalization"
The British Columbia (B.C.) government is letting folks know that it’s still illegal to have illegal drugs. “Decriminalization is not legalization,” is what the
B.C. government said. The B.C. government had to say that because of the confusion caused by Health Canada’s new rule.
Health Canada has a new rule which says that grown folks in British Columbia who use a total of 2.5 grams of certain illegal drugs for personal reasons should be hauled off to a clinic and not to jail.
The illegal drugs a person may use for personal use are Opioids (heroin, morphine, and fentanyl), crack cocaine, powder cocaine, Methamphetamine, and Ecstasy.
The new rule, covering the use of those illegal drugs, went into effect on the last of January of this year and the rule runs to the last of January of 2026.
The manufacturers, distributors, and sellers of illegal drugs are jumping up and down because they’re thinking that they won’t go to jail if they sell a total of 2.5 grams of illegal drugs to their customers. But, the B.C. government is like, “Illegal drugs are still bad, m’kay, and they will get you sent to the pokey.” Therefore, the British Columbia government is letting folks know that if the law catches anybody in the illegal drug business making, distributing, and or selling drugs online or offline then that individual will do lots of time.
In addition, anybody who tries to be slick by making, selling, or using a total of 2.5 grams of illegal drugs in schools, airports, on federal property, or private property will certainly get a first class ticket to an extended stay in one of Canada’s finest prison institutions.
Folks, y’all also need to be mindful of the fact that Health Canada’s new rule only applies to B.C . And what that means is if you have illegal drugs in any amounts on your person while you’re hanging out on any other land owned by the Canadian government, then you will be prosecuted. For instance, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) will haul you off to jail if you tell them you are smoking a nanogram of “Moses” because it helps you to see and talk to God.
There are no if ands buts about it. The law is the law. And what the law currently says is that a person can only use a total of 2.5 grams of certain illegal drugs, for personal use, within certain confine areas in British Columbia. If you are caught using drugs in any other form or fashion that is not allowed by Health Canada’s new rule, then you will be taken to a place where folks tend to find Mary’s baby!
